The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that automobile associations from China met the EU trade department at a hearing in Brussels, Belgium, on Monday (3 June). It is learnt that Chinese carmakers were told at the meeting to expect temporary EU tariffs on Chinese-built electric vehicles from 4 July, without revealing the rate of the tariffs.The sources said the European Commission will privately notify companies of the level of import tariffs next week, and the affected companies have sought legal advice on the matter.
