Resumir
The article discusses various studies on vitamin D deficiency and its impact on health. Studies show that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in Europe and can have negative effects on skeletal muscle, bone health, and overall metabolism. Certain medications, such as HIV-protease inhibitors and efavirenz, have been found to impair vitamin D bioactivation and lead to severe deficiencies. Glucocorticoid use has also been associated with low levels of vitamin D. The research highlights the importance of monitoring and addressing vitamin D levels, especially in at-risk populations and individuals taking medications that may interfere with vitamin D metabolism.
