About a month or two ago, I posted a non-serious server that can be requested on demand. After May, basically no one applied for it. My partners all have their own computers, so they don't need this kind of service either. If someone really needs it, I am very sorry. Since no one is using it, we have turned it into an 'alternative' service, which can also earn some pocket money for my partners. If someone really wants to build a server similar to the one mentioned in that post, I can also consider releasing the method of building it.
The services provided include VPS service, which features access to international networks without the need to prepare GitHub and Docker Hub acceleration images; remote desktop services, shared remote desktop services where each user has their own account and can run desktop software that requires long online times; SKS, the perfect companion for traveling the world, if blocked, all will be upgraded to IPLC for free.
Since we are just starting to try, we are likely to encounter many problems. Therefore, all services will be provided for free until July 1st. After July 1st, I will decide whether to continue providing services based on the feedback from my partners and everyone's responses, or to delete the database and run away.
Unusual issues to be aware of
- My partner requests to apply for these services, requiring the use of the university's IP address and the university's email. After submitting the application, we will check the IP address and email on the application form. If the check passes, the applicant will receive a confirmation email. 2. We are not sure how long these services can be maintained, so usually we are not willing to make transactions exceeding 100 yuan at once to avoid unnecessary refund troubles (because some people have encountered situations where they do not want a refund). 3. To avoid fraud, do not trust emails sent in the name of VIYF from domains other than viyf.org and viyf.net. 4. Our technical capabilities are not sufficient to deal with all intrusions, so please do not upload confidential files to our server. 5. Please respect each other, as we are all visually impaired, there may be delays in replies or other technical issues that cannot be resolved. At this time, you can apply for a refund, but please do not engage in discriminatory or extreme behavior. 6. When using our services, please comply with relevant laws and regulations, do not use them for cryptocurrency or sending harmful information.
Elf server
Essentially, the sprite server is a VPS service, named for its low configuration but seamless connection to the international internet. You can run your programs, build websites, or study in it. The typical configuration is a dual-core processor, 2.5GB memory, 40GB hard drive. To avoid excessive use, the hard drive I/O is limited, but you can contact the administrator to adjust the restrictions to meet reasonable needs.
Due to technical limitations, we have not developed a control panel temporarily, nor do we intend to purchase a ready-made control panel. Therefore, if you encounter any problems, you can contact us directly for resolution.
民宿服务器
Essentially, the homestay server is a shared remote desktop server, named for providing people with the performance surplus and available disk space as it is the host's personal remote desktop server. It is similar to a cloud desktop, capable of running desktop applications that require long online times, running large applications (such as converting scanned PDFs to text-based PDFs for visually impaired users), and can also be used for demonstrations.
For security reasons, we usually do not assign administrator permissions of homestay servers to users. If there is a legitimate need, you can apply for administrator permissions after completing real-name verification. Moreover, those who use administrator permissions will face more restrictions, such as providing reasons for using administrator permissions and being more self-disciplined, and not causing confusion on the server.
SKS Service
This is a service that allows you to access V2EX, SKS is the abbreviation of Shinkansen. For security reasons, we hope that applicants are students studying abroad, or at least not individuals without reasonable justification, after all, the Six Doors are quite terrifying.
It can access GPT, and also provides low-latency sites, some of which have been blocked (the only benefit is that YouTube has no ads). In case of special circumstances when it cannot be used, we will provide IPLC lines for all students as an emergency measure, instead of leaving you behind.
Application methods and process
Visit the application page, then click on the service you want to apply for. Enter your email and the pre-shared key ( V2EX ), click on 'Continue'. If you can reach the service introduction page, confirm that the email entered is correct, then click on 'Start Application' and answer each question on the webpage. Once the application is complete, you will receive a confirmation email.
