The preliminary evaluation of the 2024 "Runhua Award" Belt and Road University Student Fashion Design and Skills Competition has been successfully completed (including the shortlisted list)

On August 29, 2024, the preliminary review meeting for the 2024 "Runhua Award" Belt and Road University Student Fashion Design and Skills Competition, co-hosted by the China Fashion Designers Association and Jiangxi Fashion Institute, was held at Jiangxi Fashion Institute, and was fully supervised by the Dacheng Notary Office in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province.

This competition received a total of 731 submissions from 49 universities both domestically and internationally. The foreign participants come from more than ten universities in countries along the Belt and Road, including the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The domestic participants are from universities in regions such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nanning, Ningbo, Guiyang, Wuhan, Jiujiang, Dalian, Shenyang, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Jilin, Nanchang, and the Macao Special Administrative Region. Designers interpret their profound understanding of fashion art from unique perspectives and innovative concepts, empowering the clothing industry with the power of fashion design.

This competition is organized by Wang Yutao, Vice President of the China Fashion Designers Association, Director of Beautyberry Design, and two-time winner of China's highest fashion design award "Golden Top Award"; Liu Yong, founder of the LIUYONG brand and two-time winner of China's highest fashion design award "Golden Top Award"; Li Xiaoyan, President of the Guangdong Province Fashion Designers Association, Chairman and Design Director of Guangzhou Fangfang Fashion Design Co., Ltd., and winner of China's highest fashion design award "Golden Top Award"; Qi Gang, Brand Director of SIU at Sihong Group and winner of China's highest fashion design award "Golden Top Award"; and Ji Lin, Chair of the Technical Committee of the China Fashion Designers Association and Visiting Professor at the Department of Dyeing, Weaving and Fashion Design at Tsinghua University, who together form the preliminary review jury. The preliminary review work is conducted in a rigorous and fair atmosphere, with the expert committee evaluating the entries in detail from multiple dimensions such as design creativity, design style, overall shape, color expression, and fabric application. After a thorough selection process by the expert jury, a total of 31 outstanding works were selected for the finals.

This competition aims to "promote education through competition and promote learning through competition," to drive the reform and innovative development of clothing education, to discover and cultivate contemporary emerging designers, to inherit the essence of the "Runhua Award" clothing culture, to create a new situation in modern fashion design, and to lead a new trend in the era of clothing design; at the same time, with new, avant-garde clothing design concepts and discourse, to promote the characteristic, industrialized, scaled, and international development of the clothing industry.

The finals of the 2024 "Runhua Award" Belt and Road University Student Fashion Design and Skills Competition will be grandly held during the 2024 Jiangfu International Fashion Art Week in early November. At that time, emerging fashion designers from around the world will gather in Nanchang, bringing new surprises and inspirations to the fashion industry with their passion and pursuit of fashion.
