The case against Ibrahim Uçar and Hasan Takımcılar, two of the 4 defendants who are being tried for allegedly raping a 21-year-old male inmate at the Central Prison, has been concluded.
THE TRIALS OF GÜNER AND İBRAHİM TAKIMCILAR ARE ONGOING
The defendants were sentenced to 18 years in prison, while Aydın Güner and İbrahim Takımcılar, who were tried for the same crime and did not accept the accusations, are still on trial.
President Cemaller read the decision of the Nicosia Heavy Penal Court panel consisting of Senior Judge Vedia Berkut Barkın and Judge Tutku Candaş, chaired by Füsun Cemaller.
THEY COMMITTED THE CRIME OF RAPE FOR THE SECOND TIME
President stated that the defendants Ibrahim Uçar and Aydın Güner committed sexual assault on T.B. for the second time the next day.
The presiding judge noted that the plaintiff had lodged their initial complaint with the guards on duty there on February 11, and on the same date, it was determined through medical examinations at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital that they had suffered physical harm.
UÇAR AND HASAN ACCEPTED THE ACCUSATIONS
The President emphasized that he did not accept the cases of the other defendants and that the judicial process is ongoing, while stating that Ibrahim Uçar and Hasan Takımcılar admitted to the accusations.
President Füsun Cemaller stated that the defendants İbrahim Uçar and Hasan Takımcılar have entered prison several times for various crimes.
The president emphasized that the defendants committed rape while awaiting trial in prison.
"DETERRENT PENALTIES SHOULD BE IMPOSED ON THOSE WHO COMMIT SUCH CRIMES"
Cemaller, pointing out the increase in sexual assault crimes, stated that deterrent penalties should be imposed on those who commit and are inclined to commit such crimes.
SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS IN PRISON
The president noted that they considered it against the defendants that they had committed the rape crime twice.
