Based on secret information, a pick-up van with 976.8 liters of banned codeine-laced cough syrup was intercepted at Bhana pick-up point on National Highway 31 from Musapur Chowk in the Thana area. Thana President Mukesh Kumar Mandal said that secret information was received that a van carrying parcels with banned coding cough syrup was heading from Patna towards Araria. Late Thursday night, a vehicle checking operation was conducted at Musapur Chowk on NH 31, where a search was conducted for the pick-up van carrying parcels. Banned coding cough syrup was seized. In the case, 30-year-old Manish Kumar Rai from Teresia Village Thana - Ganga Bridge Vaishali district was arrested. The driver was sent to judicial custody in Katihar after registering a primary case. It is said that in Bihar, cough syrup is used as a form of intoxication due to the ban on alcohol, and a bottle is priced at around two hundred rupees in the market.
