Queen Máxima Zorreguieta and King William Alexander, along with their family, starred in one of the most emblematic activities of Argentinian Patagonia: walking on the Perito Moreno Glacier. The tour took place in the Los Glaciares National Park, in the area known as minitrekking, where visitors can experience the immensity of the ice directly.

The royal couple, accompanied by their daughters Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane, toured this tourist destination over the weekend, as part of their stay at a ranch near El Chaltén.

The journalist from El Calafate, Marcelo Del Buono, obtained images of the Dutch royalty from the dock where one departs for the glacier.

The adventure of the kings and princesses of the Netherlands began with a brief boat ride through the Brazo Rico of Lake Argentino, from where access to the glacier is obtained. Then crampons were put on to safely traverse the ice.

Once on the ice, the family explored unique formations such as crevasses, sinkholes, small glacial ponds, and ice caves.

The activity lasted approximately three hours and is designed to offer an unforgettable experience while learning about geology and the behavior of glaciers.

It is the second time that Máxima and Guillermo travel to El Calafate. The first visit was in 2006, when they were the princes of Orange. On that occasion, they were accompanied by Queen Beatrix and their two older daughters, so the experience was new for the girls, especially for Ariane.

Los Glaciares National Park has other unique attractions such as the imposing view of the glacier, the hanging bridges, and the boat rides that bring visitors close to the gigantic ice walls.

Máxima Zorreguieta is already in Bariloche to spend Christmas

Máxima Zorreguieta arrived on Saturday, December 21, at the international airport of El Calafate on a private flight, along with her husband and their three daughters, trying to distance themselves from royal protocols.

The same Global 5000 LV-KLE plane that brought them to Santa Cruz departed on the morning of Tuesday the 24th to land at 11:18 hours in San Carlos de Bariloche.

According to local media, on that flight Máxima Zorreguieta arrived with her daughters and in a second trip King Willem-Alexander would do so, as per protocol, they could not travel on the same plane.
