According to information received from the police, most of them are residents of Uttar Pradesh and used to commit theft in various rural areas of the state during the winter. These people were planning a major theft. During the same time, based on secret information, the police arrested these individuals.

Recently, thieves created a commotion in Srirampur in Hooghly district. The thieves had earlier locked four flats in the Subhash Nagar Housing Complex under Ward 29 of Srirampur Municipality and carried out the theft incident. The thieves had fled with cash and jewelry worth millions from these four flats. The incident of theft in the complex had left the residents in terror. This incident had once again raised questions on the police security arrangements.

The dacoits had cash of one lakh sixty thousand rupees, four firearms, 36 rounds of ammunition, gunpowder, 600 grams of gold, 1 kilogram and 500 grams of silver jewelry. All the necessary tools to carry out the robbery have been recovered from them, along with 18 mobile phones. Each of them has been presented in court. Ten of them have been ordered to be kept in police custody for ten days. The police said that further investigation is ongoing.

The police superintendent mentioned that they come to different parts of the state every year in the month of December, i.e., during the winter season. Especially in rural areas, they commit thefts or robberies in this manner. Their home is in Uttar Pradesh. In the past few days, they were stealing all kinds of goods, jewelry, money, etc., in different areas of Arambagh, Khankul, and Goghata. Today, the police have apprehended them. The police say that they have been searching for this gang for a long time. The police succeeded in this on Thursday.
