Frequently Asked Questions

Content
  • How is this service different from video embed options or emailing the video link?
  • When sending an email, you still need to send the YouTube or Vimeo link. Embedded video on sites still shows related videos and extra distracting functionalities. Our service provides a unique combination of the ability to view the video with minimum distraction as well as the ability to crop distracting scenes within the video!
  • But YouTube and Vimeo provide offensive video filtering already?
  • Yes. However, it does not work well. Even when it does work, there are still tons of distracting links to other videos and other elements cluttering the area around the video player!
  • Do SafeShare links expire?
  • No. They never expire.
  • Is there a way to embed the cropped video rather than rely on a link?
  • Not at the moment, but we're planning to add embed support. Stay tuned!
  • Sometimes the links do not load for me. Why is that?
  • If this is always the case, there is a big chance that you are using an incompatible browser. SafeShare is compatible with most modern browsers. Try with another browser or upgrade to the latest version of your current browser. If you continue to have issues, please click here to contact support as the issue might be related to something else.
  • Will this site still work in a school where YouTube or Vimeo is blocked?
  • The answer is heavily dependent on how your school configured its proxy filtering. If you believe that your school network is blocking you from watching SafeShare videos, please ask your IT department to contact us.
  • Is it legal to use SafeShare?
  • Absolutely. SafeShare only uses authorized YouTube developer tools.
  • What can I do, as a content creator, if I don't want my videos to be available on SafeShare?
  • Please fill this form and we'll block the videos once we review your submission.
  • Has SafeShare ever been hacked?
  • SafeShare is secure and has never been hacked in the past.
  • I've encountered an issue. How can I go about reporting it?
  • To report the problem, please visit our support page and ensure to provide as much relevant information as possible. It would be helpful if you utilize a tool like ScreenClip to annotate the image with comment markers. By including visual information, our team will find it significantly easier to understand the problem.
In case the issue involves multiple steps or pages, we suggest employing a screen recorder such as [ClipClip](https://clipclip.com) to capture a video demonstration.
Summary
SafeShare offers a unique video viewing experience that minimizes distractions compared to traditional video embed options or links from platforms like YouTube and Vimeo. Unlike these platforms, which often display related videos and other clutter, SafeShare allows users to crop distracting scenes from videos. SafeShare links do not expire, and while embedding cropped videos is not currently supported, it is a planned feature. Users may encounter loading issues if they are using incompatible browsers, and the service's accessibility in schools depends on the institution's proxy settings. SafeShare operates legally, utilizing authorized YouTube developer tools, and has never been hacked. Content creators wishing to block their videos on SafeShare can submit a request through a designated form. For any issues, users are encouraged to report them via the support page, providing detailed information and visual aids if possible to facilitate resolution.
